Weeks ago, 4 tigers, 3 lions (one of which did not wake up from sleep), 9 crocodiles and 13 swans were seized from the private zoo of Gagik Tsarukyan and given to the Yerevan zoo. The incident of the lion's fall became a reason for intense discussions and criticism on the Internet. The issue of stressing the mammals was also at the core of the discussions, because they were constantly under the care of the same person, the same caretaker.
Yerevan Zoo, responding to the discussions, invited the keeper of Tsarukyan's private zoo to work in the park so that he could participate in animal care.
In a conversation with us, Ashot Aslanyan, deputy director for scientific affairs of "Yerevan Zoo" ANAC, mentioned that they are already cooperating with that person.
"The suggestion was made to the given caretaker not because the park does not have appropriate specialists, but simply so that the given caretaker would not lose his job, or to make sure that the animals have a familiar caretaker. Yes, he was invited, he is currently cooperating with the zoo, with a fairly convenient schedule, he is a contract employee with us."
