Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi criticized France, whose Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barro condemned the situation related to human rights in Iran, publishing the joint statement of the EU countries on the subject.
According to "Armenpress", more than 30 European countries, as well as the head of EU diplomacy, Kaya Kalas, condemned the death sentences of protesters in Iran in a joint statement. The countries called on Iran to "immediately end the use of the death penalty", listen to its people who demand change and take active steps to ensure human rights.
Releasing the joint statement on August 12, Jean-Noël Baron wrote on Platform X that the "inhumane repression" must end, those responsible must be punished and political prisoners released.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi condemned this statement, recalling the position of European countries regarding Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip.
"Countries like France should stop lecturing the world about 'human rights' and international law. The hypocrisy is blatant and shameful. Your support for Israel's genocide in Gaza and aggression against Iran has destroyed the moral high ground you thought you had," Araghchi wrote on Platform X.
