Argentina's President Javier Millay denied reports that he or the government was offended by Lionel Messi's comments about the country's dire social situation.
The president emphasized that he respects the football player and welcomes sincere concerns, adding that his administration does not deny the problems facing the country.
"To sum up, a huge amount of work has been done, but there is still a lot to do. It would be foolish to deny this or to think that the problem is already done. Therefore, I think it is entirely appropriate to comment on the current situation. None of us is denying the reality," Millay said.
Millay stated that during his tenure, he managed to reduce the poverty rate from 57% to 30%, preventing hyperinflation and saving the country from the Venezuelan scenario.
