According to our information, an internal political decision has already been made in the KP, according to which Andranik Kocharyan, the chairman of the Standing Committee on Defense and National Security Issues of the National Assembly, will no longer continue to serve in that capacity in the new parliament. According to our sources, within the government, they decided to release him from the duties of the chairman of the commission. Kocharyan will have to be satisfied with the status of an ordinary deputy of the ruling faction.
According to the same sources, instead of Andranik Kocharyan, the government is considering the candidacy of Armen Khachatryan, a member of the CP Department, former state auto inspector. The latter, according to our information, has already received political support within the government and is considered the main contender for the position of the commission's chairman. The government does not speak publicly about what caused the dismissal of Andranik Kocharyan. However, according to our interlocutors, the internal political tension created around him recently, as well as the existing dissatisfaction within the team, led to the fact that the CP leadership decided to change the head of the permanent committee on defense and national security issues.
