The United States has deployed more than 900 troops to Venezuela to help with earthquake relief efforts, and another 800 to Puerto Rico and Curacao, Reuters reported, citing General Francis Donovan, head of the US Southern Command.
"The U.S. military has established a strong U.S. military presence in and around Venezuela to support relief operations, deploying more than 900 troops in the country and nearly 800 in the Caribbean centers of Puerto Rico and Curacao," the agency reported.
Donovan told the agency that the US is using at least four MQ-9 Reaper drones in Venezuela. He also emphasized that the American military will leave the country when their help is no longer needed, but added that the United States is ready to strengthen military relations with Caracas.
