During an interview with the public television company, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan spoke about the verdicts published a few days ago regarding the Armenians detained in Baku.
"You know, first of all, let me say that those judgments are, of course, very painful and heavy for me personally, humanly, and politically. But on the other hand, we must understand that the conflict has inertia, and this inertia cannot be stopped by using a lever," he said.
According to Pashinyan, the solution to the problem is again peace, that is the environment in which it is possible to solve the problem. in the environment of conflict, this problem is insoluble.
"Four people, our compatriots, returned last month. In the case of others, I will not say that, but in the case of Vagif Khachatryan, I want to assure you unequivocally and unequivocally that if it were not for the improving environment of peace, he would not have returned. He would not return to Armenia, at least he would not return now and at least he would not return in the foreseeable future. I say this knowing a number of details. And peace is the environment.
If peace does not develop, is not institutionalized, the solution to this issue is excluded. The example of Vagif Khachatryan is a very concrete example for me, which shows that the direction and way to solve the problem is there," he said.
According to Pashinyan, there were problems related to Vagif Khachatryan's health condition, emotionally it was very difficult for them not to make statements, not to apply to various international courts. "But if we had gone that way, I guarantee that Vagif Khachatryan would not have returned."
The Prime Minister emphasized that they are already touching the line, after which peace is irreversible.
