According to SHAMSHYAN.com, an extraordinary incident took place in Yerevan on January 29. Around 3:15 p.m., a 43-year-old woman from Yerevan applied to the Shengavit Department of the Community Police Department of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs and reported that in 2025 from May until now, her 63-year-old mother and her 37-year-old brother regularly demanded 30,000 US dollars, 37,000 US dollars, 20,000 US dollars and 20 million AMD from her, threatening to kill her, her husband and their unborn child if she did not pay the money.
As photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan reports, the woman told the police that she gave her brother 200,000 US dollars, but the latter demanded money again, speculating on the issue of changing the name of the apartment.

According to Shamshyan, thanks to the operative investigative measures undertaken by the officers of the Shengavit police department and intensive explanatory work, the brother presented himself to the Shengavit police department on the basis of a reasonable suspicion of extortion, and measures are being taken to find the mother.
Documents were drawn up in the Shengavit department of the police regarding the incident, which were transferred to the investigative department of the Shengavit administrative district of the Yerevan city investigative department of the RA Investigative Committee.
