"On January 17, 2020, the body of the former director of the National Security Service, Giorgi Kutoyan, was found in his apartment. As ArmLur.am reported earlier, the body of Giorgi Kutoyan was found with a gunshot wound in the temple.
The incident with Kutoyan happened the day before, when he was alone at home, and his wife and child were at his parents' house. We also reported that the shot was fired from his weapon, and there were 35 bullet marks on the walls of the house. Immediately after the incident, a criminal case was initiated under Part 1 of Article 110 (inducing suicide).
A Glock pistol was found at the scene. The weapon was found to be legal at the scene. Kutoyan received the weapon from the head of security of Georgia as a reward. Kutoyan was found dead 2 years after the change of power in 2018, and the first version that was put forward was that Giorgi Kutoyan was in possession of enormous information and maybe after the change of power, he was told either to testify against the former government or to be arrested.
And he chose to commit suicide. According to another version, he did not come to terms with today's reality. Hypotheses that are put forward to this day and still remain hanging in the air. And what do the relatives of Georgi Kutoyan, the questioned neighbors tell?
Former director of the National Security Service Mikayel Hambardzumyan remembers how Georgi Kutoyan entered the National Security Service building and what he felt after hearing about his suicide.
In the end, what did Georgi Kutoyan not endure, ending his life at such a young age? What is the stage of his suicide case 5 years after the incident?
ArmLur.am tried to find out the answer to these questions from the investigative committee of the Republic of Armenia, from which they said that the investigation is ongoing.
