Georgian authorities are still waiting for an apology or an explanation from the European Union for their support for the attempted coup d'état that took place in the country on October 4, 2025, the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, said.
"Traditionally, on January 4, I was going to announce that three months have passed since October 4, and the EU still has not condemned the violence.
But it was New Years and I didn't want to burden the public too much. February 4 will come, let's wait. maybe before that we will hear at least one statement from the EU ambassador. I would make a proposal, at least not to condemn, but to say that the violent attack on the presidential palace of Georgia is not a European act. "Until now, the EU has not condemned the violent attack on the presidential palace by people supported by it," the speaker of the parliament told reporters.
According to Papuashvili, the coup attempt was made under the flag of the EU.
