Against the backdrop of US President Donald Trump's increasingly tough rhetoric about a possible seizure of control over Greenland, the European Union is calling on members to prepare for a direct confrontation with the head of the US administration, the European publication Politico reports.
"We must be ready for a direct confrontation with Trump. He is aggressive and we have to be ready," the anonymous EU diplomat told the publication.
The newspaper notes that while European governments previously did not recognize the seriousness of Trump's threats, they now do and are "desperately looking for a plan to stop him."
Trump has repeatedly stated that Greenland should join the United States.
