The European Union may consider sending troops to Greenland to counter Washington's plans, Politico reports.

"European countries should discuss the possibility of deploying troops to Greenland if Denmark requests it, in order to increase the costs of possible US military operations," the publication reported, citing an unnamed EU diplomat.

As Politico noted, these forces probably won't be able to prevent a possible invasion of the US, but they can act as a deterrent.
