Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has confirmed that Italy does not intend to send troops to Ukraine as part of the security guarantees given to Kiev, the Italian government said in a statement.
On Tuesday, a high-level meeting of the so-called "coalition of volunteers" took place in Paris, during which, among other things, the so-called security guarantees for Ukraine were discussed.
The meeting was attended by the special envoy of US President Donald Trump, Steve Wittkoff, and the son-in-law of the American leader, Jared Kushner. According to the document agreed upon after the meeting, the "coalition of volunteers" agreed to continue long-term military support to Ukraine.
"Meloni reaffirmed several fundamental principles of the Italian government's position on guarantees, in particular the exclusion of the deployment of Italian troops on the ground," said a statement posted on the Italian government's website.
