In the Philippines, the danger level of the eruption of the Mayon volcano has been raised

The Philippine National Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) on Tuesday raised the eruption danger level of the Mayo volcano from level two to level three due to the beginning of the collapse of the lava dome, and an explosion is likely to occur in the coming days or weeks, Philippine news agency ABS-CBN reported, citing Phivolcs.

On January 1, Phivolcs raised the alert level of the Mayo volcano to level 2. Consequently, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) restricted flight altitudes around the volcano.

Airplane flights were banned within a radius of 3.35 kilometers from the summit, and pilots were urged to avoid flying near the volcano, as volcanic ash from sudden, frantic eruptions poses a serious threat to aircraft.

"The Philippine National Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) raised the alert level of Mayon Volcano to Level 3 on Tuesday, January 6, due to the onset of the collapse of the lava dome," ABS-CBN reported.
