Christodoulides and Netanyahu discussed cooperation in energy and military fields

Energy and military cooperation between Cyprus and Israel was discussed during a telephone conversation between the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, and the Prime Minister of the Jewish State, Benjamin Netanyahu.

This was stated in a written statement by the Deputy Spokesman of the Government of Cyprus Yanis Antoniou.

"The discussion was focused on the implementation of the agreements reached by the leaders during the recent meetings.

Special attention was paid to the issue of connecting to the power grid, including the Israel-Cyprus section, in the context of the implementation of the India-Middle East Economic Corridor IMEC, the development of cooperation in the energy sector, as well as defense cooperation between the two countries," said Antonio.

He added that during the discussion held on January 4, Christodoulilis and Netanyahu also touched on the topic of "progress in the implementation of the Gaza peace plan of US President Donald Trump."
