During the meeting with the Ukrainian delegation on Friday, the special representative of the US president, Stephen Wittkoff, put pressure on Volodymyr Zelensky, demanding that he make concessions regarding the Donetsk region. This was reported by The Washington Post, referring to sources.
According to the paper, during a meeting between Zelensky and Trump, Wittkoff "pressured the Ukrainian delegation" to hand over areas in the Donetsk region retaken by Ukrainian armed forces. Trump's special representative noted that the region is "extremely Russian-speaking".
The newspaper also noted that in a telephone conversation with his American counterpart Donald Trump, President Vladimir Putin demanded that the entire territory of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) be transferred to the control of the Russian army.
