Afghanistan and Pakistan have agreed on an immediate ceasefire in Doha, Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the agreement envisages the creation of joint mechanisms for strengthening sustainable peace and monitoring the maintenance of the ceasefire.
Both sides have agreed to hold meetings in the coming days. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar expressed hope that this step "will contribute to the cessation of border tensions between the two brotherly countries and lay a solid foundation for sustainable peace in the region."
It should be reminded that at the beginning of this week, Kabul and Islamabad agreed on a two-day ceasefire after a week-long escalation.
