The Mongolian parliament voted to impeach the prime minister

A majority of deputies in Mongolia's Grand Khural (Parliament) voted in favor of a motion to dismiss Prime Minister Gombojav Zandanshatar. This was reported by the press service of the parliament.

"On October 17, 71 of the 111 members present at the plenary session of the parliament approved the decision to dismiss the Prime Minister of Mongolia, Gombojavin Zandanshatar. On October 7, more than 50 members of the parliament signed and officially presented the demand for his resignation," the statement said.

Until the appointment of the new prime minister, Gombojavin Zandanshatar will be the acting head of the government.

Speaker of the parliament Dashgegvin Amarbayasgalan resigned earlier. He believes that the current political crisis in the country began with the inability of the defeated Mongolian People's Party chairman Gombojavin Zandanshatar and some of his colleagues to accept defeat.
